Hello from the Red Stick State.
My name is Ashley Spencer and
I am a Survival Swim Instructor, located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I graduated from Louisiana State University in
Elementary Education back in 1998 and
have 3 amazing children:
Emma Grace (Senior @ LSU),
Elliott-12th grade,
and Evann Elizabeth (7th grade),
where they both attend The Dunham School.
I have always LOVED being with children, for as long as I can remember. They are adorable, smart little people who I seem to "get" more than adults sometimes-HAHA! I get "energy" from being with children and knew I would always work with children from the time I was small.
Before embarking on this ISR journey, I taught 1st & 2nd grade, at both public & private schools, for 13 years and then owned /taught an extra-curricular agility, fine & gross motor development program for children ages 3-5 years old over the past 10 years called "TOT" or Teams Of Tomorrow, where I was formerly known around town as "Miss TOT."
Although each career fulfilled me & allowed me to be around many children, the value and purpose of my life still felt unfulfilled and I wanted to do something MORE impacting and life-changing for the people I encounter everyday.
This is where Survival Swim comes in!

Why Choose Survival Swim Lessons?
Drownings do not discriminate! They happen to good families and loving parents. ALL bodies of water can be dangerous and deadly to children, but with Survival Swim lessons, I believe they are at least given a HUGE chance to SAVE themselves. It is my mission and passion to inform all parents that the FLOAT makes all of the difference! Please take the first step and enroll your precious child in these life-saving, water safety classes. You will NOT regret the time, money, nor the commitment it requires. Nothing is more important than your child's life.
Survival Swimming Lessons are the BEST and most effective form of swimming lessons worldwide, teaching your child to learn how to get into their life-saving float in order to get as much AIR as needed. These water safety skills are available to children ages 6 months to 6 years old, as well as ALL ages and ALL people.
Survival Swim Lessons combine learning to swim with aquatic survival skills should your child find the water alone, focusing on a horizontal swimming posture vs. a vertical one which doesn't provide enough life saving AIR.
Infants 6mos. to 12mos. learn to FLOAT
and Toddlers who can walk and up, learn to SWIM-FLOAT-SWIM. Children 6 years and under MUST learn to FLOAT in order to get enough AIR through traditional swim lessons, where they use the stroke and side breathing, which turns their swim into a treading water, vertical posture which is not swimming. True Swimming must remain in a horizontal swimming posture, in order to get enough air to feel strong enough to swim again and again.
Swimming lessons should only take up to 6 weeks at the most, not weekly for a year. They should also be one on one only.
